SpeedRead ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our iOS application.
SpeedRead does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Everything stays on your device.
Information We Collect
We collect no data whatsoever.
SpeedRead is designed to function entirely offline and locally on your device. We do not collect, process, or have access to:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number, etc.)
- Usage data or analytics
- Device identifiers
- Location data
- Your reading content, progress, or preferences
- Camera or facial data
- Any other information of any kind
Camera Usage & Face Detection
SpeedRead includes an optional Face-Aware Auto-Pause feature that uses your device's camera to detect when you look away from the screen. This feature:
- Runs 100% on-device using Apple's Vision framework
- Does not record, store, or save any images or video
- Does not transmit any camera data to external servers
- Does not perform facial recognition or identify individuals
- Can be disabled at any time in the app or by revoking camera permissions in iOS Settings
The camera feed is processed in real-time solely to detect face presence. No data from this process is retained after processing.
Local Data Storage
All app data—including your imported books, reading progress, speed settings, and preferences—is stored locally on your device. This data:
- Never leaves your device
- Is not accessible to us or any third party
- Is not backed up to any external servers by us
- Can be deleted by uninstalling the app
Third-Party Services
SpeedRead does not integrate any third-party services, including:
- Analytics or tracking tools
- Advertising networks
- Social media SDKs
- Crash reporting services
- Cloud storage services
Children's Privacy
SpeedRead does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since we do not collect any data, we are compliant with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Since we do not collect any contact information, we cannot notify you directly of changes. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
